2012 SuperFit Charlottesville Workouts
Here are the workouts. Please note the second weight amounts are the scaled and masters weights (they do the same weights). We will put up movement standard videos for WODs 2 and 3 as all competitors won’t be able to attend the briefing.
WOD 1 “Strength and Grace”
1 Minute at Each Station and 15 seconds of Transition Time
- Station 1: Power Cleans (135/95, 95/65)
- Station 2: Ring Pullups
- Station 3: Ground to Overhead (155/115, 95/65)
- Station 4: Muscle Ups (scaled division can do ring pullups again for 1 point)
Station 1 and 2 are worth 1 point for each rep
Station 3 and 4 are worth 2 points for each rep, except in the scaled/masters divisions where ring pullups are optional and worth 1 point
Note: Judges will go through each station with each athlete, then return to the athlete line to judge their next athlete. No changing of ring heights. Ring pullups are rings touching shoulders/chest or hands touching shoulders/chest. Muscle ups are flash out at bottom.
WOD 2 “Run Fast”
9 Minute AMRAP of
- 15 Wallballs (20/14, 14/10) to 10 foot target
- Run Three Widths of the Basketball Court (about 20 yards each width)
- 5 Burpee Box Jumps (on a 12 inch seat in the gym)
Note: There will be cones setup for each athlete and they have to physically run around the cone. If they move or touch a cone, the cone has to be reset before they can continue running. Burpees are heels all the way on the box, hands release, hip open as they jump off box, but no need to pause. Score is total number of wallballs and burpees completed.
WOD 3 “WTF Was That”
5 Minute AMRAP of
- 12 Thrusters (95/65, 65/45)
- 12 Hang Power Cleans
Must be a clear pause in the hang position (no power clean from the ground). Full Squat on thruster (hip crease below top of the knee). Bar completely overhead, midfoot with ears visible. Elbows must pass in front of the bar on the HPC at the top, with full extension of the knees and hips as well. Score is total number of reps.
WOD 4 “Big Dudes”
4 Minute AMRAP of
- 7 Power Snatch (115/85, 85/65)
- 4 Lateral Burpees over Bar
Hands release burpees, no hip requirement over the bar, but you must be parallell to the bar when you release your hands and you must jump off both feet together and land together.
WOD 5 “Only the Strong Survive”
12 Minute Time Cutoff
- Run 800M with Weighted Vest (weights TBD)

SuperFit Sponsors Stepping Up to Support the Boys and Girls Club of Charlottesville
We’re so happy to support the Charlottesville Boys and Girls Club this year as part of our Third Annual SuperFit Games on January 21st and 22nd. We sold out three months in advance for 200 competitor spots. We have more women competing in this SuperFit event than the entire number of competitors in our first year and we added a masters division this year. Even my mom is competing!
I love SuperFit because it’s where I’ve made friends, seen athletes give it their best and inspire the community about what is possible. As I look back to our first event, the level of athleticism has advanced in such an epic way, you have to wonder where the sport will be in 10 years. But, it’s not just about the elite people (although there are some big names coming to Charlottesville). The reason we do our events in CrossFit boxes and tight venues like the Boys and Girls Club is because it forces you to interact with people around you. People come to SuperFit to give it their best, even if that means they won’t win. They come to be around a ton of great people who inspire each other. I am so excited about this year and I hope it’s the best event you’ve ever seen.
Our sponsors have really stepped up this year and allowed us to do cash prizes, feed and cloth our judges and volunteers and offer our competitors awesome prize packages. Our growing sponsor list is below:
- Sorinex
- Red Bull
- Arden Place Luxury Apartments
- Eppie’s
- Progenex
- LifeAsRx
- Neptune Barbell
- VitaCoco
- AtLarge Nutrition
- CrossFit Charlottesville
- RockTape
- Whole Foods Charlottesville
- Lululemon Charlottesville
- Spinal Health and Wellness
So, please support these sponsors, tell all your friends to come to Charlottesville in January and please, if you want to volunteer or judge, email us at games@crossfitcharlottesville.com. Judges and volunteers get free entry, a free shirt and fed.
SuperFit Charlottesville 2012 is Sold Out

Team SuperFit Richmond 2011 Recap
Overall that was an awesome weekend. It was the best SuperFit yet. The competition environment was the best I’ve seen at any competition.
We also set a record for spectators and competitors as this was bigger than the last SuperFit by one hundred people. Hope to see you all at SuperFit Charlottesville in Mid-January.
Thanks to all our awesome sponsors, Lululemon, LifeAsRX, Progenex, Rock Tape, Sausage Craft, Red Bull and Neptune Barbell. Thanks to all the judges and volunteers. You guys really made this weekend awesome.

WOD 1
Atlas stones presented a new challenge for almost all athletes. We decided we wanted a metabolic workout that tested a little bit of technique but a lot of raw power. Athletes who decided to take it easy on the runs didn’t do great on this one. 6 Rounds presented the limit for most athletes and many wore bright red marks and bloody ears all weekend for this feat.
WOD 2
We wanted to test athletes in a shorter, but heavy domain. Doing a traditional ground to overhead test worked, but we added a twist with the weight change requirement for mixed teams. Interestingly, the Male + Female teams that chose not to change weights did best. Strong athletes clearly had an advantage on this WOD. The fastest team did about 4 back-to-back Grace’s in 7 minutes. Beast.
WOD 3
We wanted something that used the worst possible movement combo (thrusters and pullups) into an event that really tested how much go athletes had. Good teams were doing about 100 thrusters and about 75 pullups. Burpees turned into a suck fest at the end, even without a hip and clapping standard.
WOD 4
No one guessed that our logo design showed WOD 4. Athletes who did well had very good handstand ability and were technically proficient in the snatch. I heard the winning girls team got a 6 minute handstand hold.
WOD 5
Our final WOD was a brutal chipper with an interesting twist on muscle ups. Athletes had some reservations about doing partner-assisted muscle ups, but I think most athletes underestimated the fatigue on the rings. The muscle up techniques ranged from interesting to the funny. Overall, the handstands turned into a big equalizer with a lot of teams changing position.
